Too far for me to walk, but there are a lot here, including Club Crocodile (Airlie Beach, it says, but it is actually on the far side of the Cannonvale township sign). A few caravan parks as well as lots of apartments. Usually somewhat more economical than in Airlie Beach, but doesn't have as many restaurants (good food shopping area however), and you are much less likely to have a sea view.
Shingley Beach resort near Shingley Beach boat ramp, now open. Also The Anchorage restaurant (closed Monday).
Large marina, a store, bottle shop and lots of ship related stores at Abel Point. Interesting seaside walk from Airlie Beach, along a boardwalk and past Coral Sea resort. There are a few Bed and Breakfasts along here at the Airlie Beach end. Others are scattered around, mostly on streets up the hillside before Airlie.
Coral Sea Resort, 25 Ocean View Avenue, PO Box 105, phone 4946 6458, fax 4946 6516. At water edge, large pool, two good restaurants. 25 suites on two levels, and now several new 4 star buildings, private jetty.
Airlie Waterfront Bed and Breakfast, Cnr Broadwater Ave and Mazlin St www.airliewaterfrontbnb.com.au
Airlie Beach Motor Lodge, 6 Lamond Street 9 motel units, 4 self contained 2 bedroom units, saltwater pool, sundeck. Resident owners Peter and Lynette Traynor
Sunlit Waters Holiday Flats, 20 Airlie Crescent Five ground floor units, pool, resident owner Sue Wade.
Airlie Apartments units 22-24 Airlie Crescent
Whitsunday Organic BandB, 8 Lamond Street, Sri Lanka food, organic food, six double rooms, four bathrooms
You can pretty much assume you won't get a sea view, except out of the back of units on the odd numbered (seaward) side of the street (all of the backpacker units are on the even numbered side of the street).

Faces the beach
Holiday resorts and residential apartments. Most have good views of the sea and islands. I think Golden Orchid Drive is the most desirable area to stay, but most are three star and above. The walk up the hill can be a problem for some people.
Not too far if you are energetic or driving. Bit too far out of town otherwise, I think.
Mango House Resort, corner Shute Harbour Road and Erromango Road, 19 self contained apartments in resort complex completed Sept 1998. Swimming pool, spa.
Flame Tree Units and Tourist Village
Island Gateway Holiday Resort
Airlie Cove Resort, Shute Harbour Road, Jubilee Pocket
Bay Terrace Lodge Holiday Apartments, 12 Bay Terrace, Shute Harbour
Coral Point Lodge, Harbour Avenue, Shute Harbour, Resident owners Sue and Peter Reid and Brian Murphy.
